Once upon a time I flew proud full of joy high above this land
I fly over now with tears in my eyes for I cannot understand
What has happened on the land I fly over down below
Where once roamed abundantly the wolf and buffalo
No longer are they nor many of the other wildlife found
In places where once they were found roaming abound
What I see of them now is a difference profound
Now they're found living captive in a compound
Not roaming free and abundantly anymore
Below on this land I sadly above now soar
Once upon a time I soared in crisp clean air over mountain tops
That now unless man and his careless pollution of the air stops
The dirty air that makes it so hard for you to breathe
Will even our lands highest mountain tops inwreathe
And the harm that pollution has done does not just stop here
It's harmed the ozone layer that protects earth's atmosphere
Without this layer of protection not only man will meet his doom
But all of life upon this earth by the sun's heat would it consume
Once upon a time whenever I flew over the rivers and streams
These waters were so clean that off of my image would gleam
I can't see my refection in them now they are so unclean
As are many specimens of aquatic life now is also unseen
The end of some things will be the futuristic scheme of things to come
If the fradulent company schemes aren't exposed and changed of some
Who think they benefit more from monetary wealth they gain
By thinking the protection of environmental health is insane
Once upon a time stories usually would end with a happy ending
But the way this story ends a happy ending end to is still pending
Man cannot live without clean air to breathe or water to drink
So if we don't clean up our act soon man will be at the brink
Of the destruction man has brought on himself
And the story of man ending and put on a shelf
Of stories never read because there will be no one left
To read the story that man left of his life being bereft
Because man did not heed ...
What was written to read ...
Once Upon A Time ...
