As Nothing Remains Constant The Same

Maybe if I hadn't taken for granted
That our love was sealed in granite

Maybe you'd still be mine
If wisely I had used time

As nothing remains
Constant the same

Everything changes
Or else rearranges

But time continually onward flows
Where it goes no one really knows

It seems to disappear
Into the atmosphere

Riding upon a cloud
 Hidden in its shroud

Disappearing from view
As did from me did you

Way back then when
I didn't comprehend

That it would possibly happen
 Anything could get misshapen

Between us as it did
From me it was hid

 I didn't have a single clue
 That between me and you

Our love was slipping away
Time has now had its way

Of easing up the pain
I no longer complain

About losing love again
I no longer try to feign

That you never were
So that I could defer

Feeling all of the hurt
You I had to subvert

Using false pretend
In order to contend

Not a thing remains
Constant the same

Things change
And rearrange

 Time onward continues to flow
And so with it you must too go

To who knows where
Or who a love affair

With might be waiting
Again time reinstating

Life is short
Don't abort

 Smelling of the roses
Never just suppose

That any love will last forever
Love is a lifetime endeavour

The cause of
A lost love

 Is from time abstained ...

As Nothing Remains Constant The Same
